Nyssa and Josh came to me with a vision as specific as it was transportive: French baroque meets the South Coast. Coordinating from Australia while they were based in France, I worked with them to translate their obsession with history, texture, and intimacy into something entirely their own. The brief called for drop-waist silhouettes, hand-embroidered corsets, and a reception space that felt less like a modern wedding venue and more like a medieval banquet hall, rich with deep colour and an excess of lace, silk, and fabric detail at every turn. Candelabras sourced from antique markets in the south of France anchored the tablescapes, while an Italian banquet honoured Josh’s heritage.

Every detail carried personal weight. The fabric elements, every bow and every finish, were made by Nyssa’s mother, and Nyssa and Josh painted the hanging canvas sign at the reception themselves. Bridesmaids dressed in individually thrifted silk pajama slips, and Nyssa got ready in a 1950s silk slip adorned with rosettes, finishing the look with vintage Marie-Antoinette-esque heels. The playlist was a decade of their favourite songs, the vows were laced with humour and sincerity, and mango daiquiris and dancefloor Baileys were a quiet toast to the people who raised them. Held at Worrowing, it was a wedding that felt completely, unapologetically them.
